The Contest

The True Life Story Contest invites professional and amateur writers to submit manuscripts exploring the creative non-fiction form using themes of friendship, animals, Christmas, or amazing coincidences.

First prize will be $1000.00; second prize will be $500.00; third prize will be $250.00. Please note that prize money will be issued by cheque in Canadian dollars.

At the conclusion of the contest selected entries will be compiled and published in a book to be released in 2006.

Manuscripts should be written on a computer using Notepad, or if necessary a common word processing program such as Microsoft Word. Please do not use Corel WordPerfect, Adobe FrameMaker, PageMaker, or any graphic or magazine layout program such as Illustrator, Quark Express, and so on.

If you are having difficulty determining whether you have the appropriate software, contact True Life Story Contest.

Manuscripts must be received by the True Life Story Contest no later than midnight, March 31, 2007.

For a description of how to enter your story in the contest, see Submit.

Creative Non-fiction

Creative non-fiction is narrative story telling that is based on actual, real-life events, characters, and places. It is written with a focus on language and style, and tends to be more informal and personal than other types of non-fiction writing.

Us

We are a small group of avid readers and lovers of honest, heartfelt narrative storytelling. We are not connected in any professional way with any publishing house, authors group, or other professional writing, publishing, or advertising organization. This contest exists for personal pleasure and to help find an audience for authors who might otherwise not receive any public exposure.
